Juneteenth is a powerful reminder that for many, freedom was brutally delayed, and that the fight for true equity continues. While the abolition of slavery marked a monumental shift, we recognize that the economic and social gaps created by centuries of systemic oppression persist today.
As DSF staff take this day off, we pause to honor the resilience of the Black community, celebrate Black joy, and reflect on our role in the ongoing fight for liberation.
⬇️ Here are a couple of ways you can honor and acknowledge Juneteenth today and every day:
- Make a conscious effort to buy from Black entrepreneurs, artists, and restaurants
- Share resources about Juneteenth and Black history with your network, workplace, or school.
- Offer your skills or labor to local organizations doing grassroots equity work.
- Donate to nonprofits focused on dismantling systemic racism and uplifting Black voices.
Did you know the word "mascot" roots back to the French word "mascotte", which translates to "something that brings good luck"? 💡
In celebration of #NationalMascotDay, we are highlighting our one and only Mountain Goat, Future! 🏔️🐐 Representing drive, resilience, and confidence, Future embodies everything DSF Scholars and Alumni are all about. No matter where they are spotted, Future`s bubbly and contagious energy completely lights up the room. We are so proud to be represented by the most stylish goat around!

Happy Pride Month! The month of June is a time to honor the history of the LGBTQ+ movement and celebrate our vibrant community. What began as a small gathering in Denver over 50 years ago has transformed into one of the largest Pride celebrations in the country! Amid ongoing injustices impacting marginalized communities, Pride remains a symbol of resistance, visibility, and the ongoing fight for equity and liberation for all. 🌈

Mentorship is at the heart of what we do, and we are thrilled to honor DSF`s Mentorship Program participants who recently wrapped up their year-long commitment! 🎉
Designed to support DSF Scholars and Alumni in growing professionally and giving back to the Denver community, this program wouldn`t be possible without our incredible participants. We are so grateful to the mentors who dedicated their time and wisdom to guiding DSF Scholars and Alumni, and to every mentee who showed up and gave this program their all!
From group get-togethers to one-on-one meetups, it has been an amazing year of connection and growth. Thank you to everyone involved, and we look forward to welcoming our incoming cohort this fall! 👏🏼
