Denver Scholarship Foundation is proud to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of the Class of 2026, especially the incredible DSF Scholars and Denver Public Schools seniors who graduated this spring. Their success reflects not only academic achievement, but also the drive, resilience, and determination to pursue their dreams and earn a college degree.

One of the thousands of Denver students we’re celebrating is DSF Scholar Flor Prieto, who earned her degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of Colorado Denver. Flor first connected with her DSF Future Center at Bruce Randolph School, where she initially planned to attend cosmetology school. It wasn’t until she met with her DSF College Advisor, Angie, that she began to see even more possibilities for her future. With Angie’s help, Flor completed her financial aid and college applications, opening doors she didn’t know existed. After reviewing her financial aid award letter and receiving the DSF Scholarship, she realized college was possible—not just for her, but for her entire family.

At CU Denver, Flor made the most of every opportunity available to her. Reflecting on the support she received from DSF, Flor shared, “From my DSF College Advisor, I transitioned to my DSF Campus Advisor at CU Denver, Ale, who encouraged me to apply for internships and other opportunities that helped me build my network. Now, she’s guiding my transition from college into my career. This support has had a huge impact on my future success.” In addition, Flor also shared, “DSF didn’t just help me get to college; they helped me graduate and prepared me for my future. Today, I am proud to be the first person in my family to graduate from college. I’ve balanced academics, work, internships, and even starting my own business, all while helping my sisters on their own journeys. I’ve taken advantage of every opportunity available to me, and it has paid off.” For many students, earning a college degree gives them the ability to choose their own paths and open doors to opportunities that might not be available to them.
