Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) extend heartfelt gratitude for the generous support of the Denver community on Colorado Gives Day. This day allows the Colorado community to come together to support their favorite nonprofits. Our supporters investment in the educational journeys of thousands of Denver students is invaluable and plays a pivotal role in helping make college possible and building the educational and economic future of Denver.Â
Colorado Gives Day is an annual statewide initiative that encourages philanthropy and supports the local nonprofit community in Colorado. This event typically takes place on the first Tuesday of December, harnessing the spirit of holiday giving to benefit a diverse range of charitable organizations. Established in 2010 by the Community First Foundation in partnership with FirstBank, Colorado Gives Day provides a convenient and centralized platform for donors to contribute to their favorite causes. The unique aspect of this initiative is the online giving platform, ColoradoGives.org, which simplifies the donation process and allows individuals to make secure contributions to multiple nonprofits of their choice with just a few clicks.Â
On Colorado Gives Day, the generosity of the community is palpable as individuals, businesses, and foundations come together to make a positive impact on various social, environmental, and cultural issues. Nonprofit organizations across the state actively participate, leveraging the day to raise awareness about their missions and programs. The collective efforts on Colorado Gives Day have turned it into a powerful force for good, fostering a sense of community engagement and demonstrating the potential for positive change when people unite to support the common good. This annual event not only bolsters the financial health of nonprofits but also strengthens the bonds within the Colorado community, emphasizing the importance of giving back and making a difference in the lives of individuals in Colorado.Â

Every Colorado Gives Day DSF is able to collaborate with even more Denver Public Schools (DPS) high school students, families and partners statewide to increase access and completion of post-high school learning. Our donors’ support directly gives opportunities for students like DSF Alum Dehrian’s Ramirez. Dehrian’s educational journey began in the DSF Future Center at Abraham High School, working with his DSF College Advisor to navigate admissions questions, college essays, and scholarship applications. Supported by the DSF Scholarship and by the additional wrap-around services that all DSF Scholars receive, Dehrian graduated from the University of Denver. The DSF community continues to be present in his life today as he continues to grow his career as the Lead Graphic Designer at a local branding agency. His college journey mirrors the experience of countless first-generation college students and DPS high schools served by the DSF Future Centers. Â
This year, DSF celebrated Colorado Gives Day with a happy hour hosted by the DSF Associate Board. It was a delightful opportunity for the community to share the success of Denver students and our collective commitment to helping make college possible. Â
Thank you again for being a vital part of our community and making a lasting impact on the lives of Denver students. Your generosity inspires students to achieve their academic and career aspirations. We look forward to continuing this journey with all of you and helping make college a reality.
