Kate Lievens

Director of Individual Philanthropy

Kate grew up in an academic environment, where her parents taught at a boarding school, and she is thrilled to support the Denver Scholarship Foundation team in making college possible for Denver Public School students. She began her career in nonprofits, working at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and then practicing law advising other tax-exempt organizations in New York City. Pivoting to business development and start-ups, Kate led international expansion and community partnerships at the events company, Tough Mudder, during the company’s rapid growth.  After four years of travel and obstacle mud runs, she moved on to other early stage hospitality and real estate companies. Kate brought “glamping” to New York City (NYC) with Collective Hotels & Retreats, sourced land for development at AutoCamp, a hotel company comprised of Airstreams, and forged management agreements with commercial landlords at the co-working company Industrious. A graduate of Middlebury College with a degree in art history, Kate studied abroad for a year at the University College London and then received her law degree at Brooklyn Law School. While in New York, Kate volunteered with the Oliver Scholars Program and with the Brooklyn Charter School, Coney Island Prep.  Kate moved from NYC to Colorado in 2017, and loves living closer to the mountains. She and her husband, Justin, are excited to get their young daughter Tess out for ski adventures.
