College Advisor, Montbello High School

Gabriela graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School as a TRIO High School Upward Bound and Denver Scholarship Foundation alumna. She received her Bachelors from the University of Denver in Cultural Anthropology, Communications, and History in 2019. As a student, she had the opportunity to work alongside non-profits like the Denver Foundation, Environmental Learning for Kids (ELK), Project Pave, Movimento Poder, that started her love for youth empowerment and access to education for the youth in her community. She received her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the Morgridge College of Education in 2020 and taught High School Social Studies at Bruce Randolph School for three years. During this time, she worked as the community coordinator between Bruce Randolph School and Colorado State University to increase student voices found in the National Western Center. The best part of her experience was seeing students learn, lead, and advocate for positive change. As a first generation scholar, Gabriela is proud to work with Denver Scholarship Foundation and TRIO to support students in the Montbello community reach their post secondary dreams as the CAP College Advisor. Gabriela loves spending time outdoors, running, cooking delicious recipes, and spending time with her family.
