Daniel C. Brown

DSF Board Member

Daniel C. Brown has a long history in managing large organizations as well as community involvement, and is currently the senior director, enterprise program management office, and chief of staff at Xcel Energy.  
 
Daniel began his career at IBM in Chicago, focused on large system integrations in the retail, banking, and real estate industries. After a significant IBM acquisition, Daniel was asked to move to New York with IBM and lead a global internal networking project with a focus on North America and Europe. He went on to manage an eCommerce practice in the banking finance, and securities industries. Daniel spent 11 successful years with IBM before being recruited into the telecommunications industry.  

Daniel is very involved in the community, serving as president of the Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Foundation, Vice Chairman of the Downtown Aurora Visual Arts Board, Board Director for the Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce, Purdue Alumni Board member, and Columbia Business School Alumni member.

In 2008, Daniel made the decision to return to technology and lead the data center, networking, and deskside operations and support for Xcel Energy. He led major transformations bringing virtualization, SAP asset management and general ledger technology, and state of the art data center efficiencies like in-line cooling into production. Daniel built the reputation of driving very large and strategic programs to transform how Xcel Energy delivers value to its’ customers and develops effective tools for its’ employees. Daniel now leads the enterprise program management office, customer service and innovation communications, and serves as chief of staff for the chief customer and innovation officer.  

Daniel studied engineering at Purdue University, receiving his bachelor’s degree, and went on ten years later to achieve a master’s in business administration from Columbia University. Daniel resides in Denver with his wife Sandra and enjoys hiking, golfing, and tennis. Â
