Alberto’s journey in public service began as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Colorado, where he honed his legal acumen in both appellate and courtroom settings, championing the interests of various state agencies.
His unwavering dedication to public service led him to seek election as a City Council Member for Westminster, Colorado. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in shaping the city’s strategic vision, fostering economic development, and building strong regional partnerships. Alberto was fortunate to be selected by his colleagues to serve as Mayor Pro Tem of the city for his final two years on City Council.
Alberto parlayed his municipal government experience as Legislative Administrator for the City and County of Denver, demonstrating his commitment to local governance and policy development. In this role, he reviewed complex policy matters in telecommunications, utilities, and broadband, ensuring the city’s interests were represented before various administrative and legislative bodies.
He then moved to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, serving as Policy and Stakeholder Engagement Director for the Division of Disease Control and Public Health Response, the division leading the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He engaged with local leaders and state officials as Colorado tackled this unprecedented public health emergency.
In his current role at Google Fiber, where he serves as Government and Community Affairs Manager for Colorado, Idaho and Utah, Alberto continues to leverage his experience in government and community affairs to bridge the digital divide and advocate for equitable access to technology. His understanding of policy landscapes, coupled with his passion for empowering communities, makes him a valuable asset in shaping the future of connectivity.
