Thousands of Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) Alumni are making their mark on the world. For 13 years, the DSF Alumni Advisory Committee (AAC) has represented, promoted, and strengthened the mission, values, and vision of DSF while creating meaningful opportunities for DSF Scholars and Alumni. Today, the 17- member committee of dedicated DSF Alumni leads and executes a variety of events, initiatives, and volunteer opportunities focused on career exposure, professional development, and community involvement.
One of the AAC’s newest and most impactful efforts is the DSF AAC Career Networking Fair, launched two years ago in partnership with DSF staff to connect DSF Scholars and Alumni with real-time career opportunities and professional networks. The AAC recently hosted its fifth successful fair at the office of DSF Corporate Partner, DaVita. 46 DSF Scholars and Alumni were welcomed for a day of exposure and connection with various corporate partners, giving these young professionals the chance not only to network with industry professionals but also to explore career pathways that might interest them in the future. “The DSF AAC Career Networking Fair has been extremely helpful for me as I got the chance to learn how to introduce myself to other people and work on my pitch, because you never know who you might meet,” shared one DSF Scholar who attended this year’s event.

The fair also introduced “Future’s Closet”, a new AAC-led resource collecting professional clothing from the broader DSF community. DSF Scholars and Alumni were able to browse and select attire they needed, expanding their professional wardrobes at no cost, removing one more barrier as they take their next steps.

Future’s Closet is one example of how AAC members continue to champion support for the DSF community. Nine years ago, AAC members helped launch the DSF Mentorship Program, a key resource for our DSF Scholars and Alumni, which connects DSF Scholars and Alumni with individualized guidance from peers who understand their experiences and goals. Throughout the year, AAC members join mentorship gatherings to offer support, and many even serve as mentors themselves, creating a culture of giving back to generations of new leaders.

While much of the AAC’s work focuses on supporting DSF Scholars and Alumni, its passion stems from within, through the relationships members build with one another. They actively strengthen connections among their own members through engaging committee meetings and team-building outings, from hiking Colorado trails, including puppy yoga, to continue to build the close relationship of Denver leaders!

As true ambassadors, AAC members can be found at many DSF events throughout the year, including the Annual DSF Homecoming Gala, representing the organization and connecting with the community. Beyond their own programs and volunteer efforts, AAC members are regularly invited to provide insight on major DSF initiatives, ensuring alumni voices help inform and strengthen the organization’s future.
The AAC proves that the DSF Scholar Journey doesn’t end at college graduation; it’s a lifelong community of alumni who open doors, share what they have learned, and help others move to and through college completion and into their careers.
