Meet Reyann Gallegos, DSF’s marketing and communications summer intern! Reyann is currently a senior at University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) majoring in Marketing and Psychology. As a first-generation and multicultural student, she recognizes the need to pave the way for students who come after her. Reyann applied to the summer internship at DSF to build her resume, build her skills in marketing and to continue to empower students to become who they want to be for themselves and their communities.
Some of her summer internship goals and responsibilities included support with updates to the DSF website, publish DSF Scholar stories, contribute to the design and creation of digital or video assets, as well as help to manage social media efforts. “I love the DSF culture. Learning new daily skills, meeting many people, and learning many aspects about the operations of DSF,” said Reyann.
Reyann believes that the power of education is an equalizer that opens many doors of opportunity. In high school, she graduated at the top of her class then earned her cosmetology license at Emily Griffith Technical College and an associate degree graduated from Community College of Denver. Reyann is continuing her education at CU Denver, pursuing a marketing degree, where she expects to graduate in the spring of 2024 and make her family proud by setting an example for her nephew to follow in her footsteps. With her marketing and psychology background and a love of connecting with others, her goal after graduation is to continue her education with a master’s degree in higher education to become a counselor or a DSF Campus Advisor.
Reyann is a current peer mentor for the CU Denver FaM Program, assisting first-generation and multicultural students who are excelling in school as well as a social media content creator and manager for her family’s business. Reyann advises other students to enjoy the journey and continue to learn something every day regardless of the path they choose to take.
