Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) created an unforgettable night of celebration and inspiration at the 2023 DSF Annual Homecoming Gala!
Our event was graced by the incredible presence of DSF Alum Ge’Swan Swanson, a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and University of Colorado Denver, and DSF Scholar Deysi Macias, a junior at the University of Colorado Boulder, as they shared their stories of success on their college journeys and beyond. Ge’Swan ventured into the DSF Future Center in 9th grade, while Deysi learned about DSF from her sister, Elva Parga, a DSF Alumni. Their determination and perseverance resonated with everyone in the room, inspiring them to continue pursuing their dreams and supporting Denver’s talent. Our DSF Homecoming Gala was made possible by the generous support of The Stead Family Foundation. Thanks to their underwriting the total cost of the Gala, every dollar raised went directly to scholarships, continuing to help make college possible for thousands of Denver students.
Our hearts are filled with gratitude for our amazing event committee, led by co-chairs Melanie and Blake Fulenwider and Erin and Andy Miller for their commitment and helping us create an evening that truly sparkled. Thank you to our DSF Board of Directors, under the leadership of Luella Chavez D’Angelo, DSF Associate Board, led by HuyenThi Le, and to the Denver community who spent their night celebrating the success of DPS students, DSF Scholars and Alumni. We appreciate the support from all our sponsors who continue to invest in the future of the Denver community.
Denver7 Anchor and DSF Board Member Anne Trujillo brought her infectious energy as our Mistress of Ceremonies, keeping the evening alive. Anne has been committed to our mission since the beginning and has emceed since our very first gala.
And let’s not forget the music! DSF’s official DJ and DSF Alum, Angelo “DjLo” Fajardo, spun the beats that set the stage for our first Gala after party that included a dueling DJ showdown, silent disco, and 360-photo booth. Guests danced the night away, connected with DSF Scholars and Alumni, and community members, creating long-lasting relationships and memories. The Denver community had the opportunity to learn more about our nationally recognized programs in helping to make college possible for thousands of Denver students while making connections and investing in the DSF mission. Keeping the momentum and the afterglow of our best gala yet, with over 750 people in attendance, including 163 DSF Scholars, the highest number to date, we are already counting down the days to the 2024 DSF Annual Homecoming Gala!
