Jose Olivo

Jose grew up in the small town of Dacono, Colorado and is proud to call Colorado his home. He is a first-generation college graduate. Jose holds a bachelor’s degree in Ethnic Studies with a Minor in Women’s Studies from Colorado State University and a master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. His passion for working with youth came from his experiences as an admissions counselor and working with TRIO Upward Bound students in Denver Public Schools. Watching students light up when thinking about being the first in their family to attend college is one of the many reasons he continues to do this work.  TRIO has been a part of Jose’s life since college, where he was a TRIO Student Support Services student. As the Director of TRIO Educational Talent Search at the Denver Scholarship Foundation, Jose is excited for the opportunity to continue to support, encourage, and work with students who have the desire to pursue higher education.
