Anitra Montoya

MacKenzie Pitcher

Anitra was born and raised in Denver, specifically in the neighborhood she identifies as “The Northside” of Denver.  She graduated from Denver North High School. She is a low-income, first generation student who completed her first year of college at University of Northern Colorado, then transferred to Metropolitan State University. With the support from her parents, support from TRIO Student Support Services, and with persistence, Anitra graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Human Services with an emphasis in high risk youth. She has a career in service, advocating for under-represented youth to guide them through college access, success, and completion. She has extensive years of experience in TRIO programs as program staff and as a program director. She is happy to be with the Denver Scholarship Foundation as the Campus Advisor at Community College of Denver. On a personal note, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, attending cultural events, is an avid foodie, enjoys growing a lush vegetable garden, and music of all genres.
