U.S. Bank Grows Partnership with DSF in Support of Students

For Marcia D. Romero, supporting Denver’s students isn’t just a passion—it’s personal. As aalumna of Abraham Lincoln High School and a first-generation college graduate, she sees the importance of Denver Scholarship Foundation’s (DSF) mission in the community. In her role as vice president and community affairs manager of corporate social responsibility at U.S. Bank, she has put her passion to work by building bridges between U.S. Bank’s community initiatives and DSF Scholars.

For the past two years, U.S. Bank has supported DSF financially through the U.S. Bank Foundation grant program

“We invest in the community in three areas: work, play, and home,” explains Marcia. “The area that aligns with DSF is ‘work.’ It’s about supporting workforce education. Through education, we can change the trajectory of our community.”

Pictured here, Marcia and U.S. Bank colleagues on the Denver Market Leadership team supported PrideFest while social distancing this year.

U.S. Bank also matches employee giving, so any employee who chooses to support DSF has their impact doubled. Yet their impact goes far beyond writing a check.

“In my role, I want to help communities through our financial dollars through the bank, but I also want to find meaningful ways to give back by connecting employees to organizations where they can give back in a way that means the most to them,” shares Marcia.

Part of that includes giving employees two days to volunteer anywhere in the community. As Marcia says, U.S. Bank “talks the talk and walks the walk.”

Marcia looks forward to continuing to strengthen the partnership between DSF and U.S. Bank. As she says, and knows from experience, our students are our future, and when we work together as a community, we can make college possible.
