The Herbert and Judy Paige Family Foundation is partnering with Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) to help low-income graduates of Denver Public Schools (DPS) – who are primarily from minority backgrounds enroll in a four-year university in Colorado.
The Herbert and Judy Paige Family Foundation investment of $12,000 will fund three (3) Incentive Scholarships at $4,000 each. Thanks to the Colorado Department of Higher Education, the award will be matched dollar for dollar by the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI). Incentive Scholarships are given to DSF Scholars who enroll in a full time course load (15 credit hours) each semester for up to four years.
The DSF Scholars selected for the Herbert and Judy Paige Family Foundation scholarship are attending University of Colorado at Boulder, University of Northern Colorado and Colorado State University. Each Scholar has expressed interest in a major related to health sciences, engineering or business.
“We are honored to be able to support DSF Scholars in fulfilling their dreams of gaining a college education,” said Sunny Justice, Executive Director of the Paige Foundation. “The Paige Foundation recognizes that students need more than financial support to persist in college, they also need someone in their corner cheering for them. We are thankful that together with the DSF we are giving students the extra support they need to be successful.”
DSF is committed to closing long-standing educational and economic achievement gaps through college access and success. “Thanks to community partnerships like the one we have with the Herbert and Judy Paige Family Foundation, we are able to support students and families with tools, resources and aid that make College Possible,” shares Lorii Rabinowitz, Chief Executive Officer for DSF. “It makes more than financial resources for students to succeed and persist to and through college. Our unique approach that provides college counseling and support services beginning in high school and extending through college competition is the key to the success of the students we serve.”
DSF has changed the life trajectory for more than 6,300 Scholars since its founding in 2006. The strategic investment in the community has provided $36 million in scholarships to graduates who attend some of Colorado’s most prestigious universities, colleges, and technical schools.
