Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) is thrilled to have a long-standing partnership with the Better Business Bureau Foundation (BBB), as we work together to support Scholars and help make college possible for Denver Public Schools students.
The BBB Foundation is dedicated to educating businesses and consumers on various marketplace issues. The programs offered allow the Foundation to provide community education and recognition programs across its eight-state service area.
“The Better Business Bureau Foundation is proud of our long-standing partnership with DSF and collaboration to influence our community’s future business leaders. Because BBB is committed to raising the ethical workforce of tomorrow and DSF is one of the premier leaders in Denver making college possible for students, our missions are aligned and poised to achieve high impact. And we are honored to have this outstanding support and a strong partner in DSF to help our local students achieve success,” said Meghan Compton, Foundation Manager at BBB.
Since 2017, BBB has given more than $120,000 to support scholarships and continues to inspire DSF Scholars on their education and career journeys while investing in our Denver community. Through DSF’s Named Scholarship Program, they established a BBB Named Scholarship to provide students with opportunities for success in life through financial support and engaging with BBB in different capacities, like attending DSF events to connect and mentor DSF Scholars. Carmen Enriquez, DSF Scholar and a sophomore at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, thanks the DSF BBB Scholarship as it has encouraged her to attend DSF and MSU Denver events to build connections and explore different career options.
Another DSF Scholar impacted by the DSF BBB Named Scholarship and wraparound services is Tsnat Taye, who is graduating in May 2023 from Colorado State University and appreciates the consistent financial support throughout her college career. As she transitioned from high school to college, the process was challenging, and she thanked DSF and BBB for believing in her. She feels that without this support, she would have dropped out. In addition, Tsnat contributes her success and retention to her Community for Excellence advisor and mentor, who has worked with her since the beginning of her junior year to create academic plans. As Tsnat is only a few weeks away from graduating, she looks forward to spending time with her family in Ethiopia for the summer before returning to Denver to begin her career in Project Management.
Thank you again to BBB for their continued partnership to support DSF Scholars like Carmen, Tsnat, and others.
