DSF Scholar Graduating to Interning with Walter P Moore

From a Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) Scholar to an internship at Walter P Moore, Gilberto Carbajal's journey is a testament to perseverance and seizing opportunities. Graduating from CU Boulder in Architectural Engineering, his dream internship promises invaluable experience in his passion: engineering. Growing up in Aurora, attending DPS, and supported by DSF and other organizations, Gilberto pieced together resources for college. Balancing academics with work-study, he secured a competitive internship at Farnsworth Group, positioning him for Walter P Moore. Reflecting on his journey, he emphasizes resilience and community, advising peers to embrace failure and seek support. Grateful to DSF, Gilberto credits their impact on guiding first-generation students. As he prepares to graduate and pursue a master's, his story inspires aspiring engineers, showcasing the transformative power of education and unwavering determination.

Cultivating Dreams while Utilizing Resources

Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) Scholar Kwizi Ndogole, originally from Congo, navigated the challenges of a new country and language to pursue her educational dreams in the United States. Her journey began at Denver Public Schools, where she attended South High School and diligently sought scholarships through the DSF Future Center. Kwizi's dedication extended to concurrent enrollment at the Community College of Denver (CCD) during high school, laying the groundwork for her current pursuit of a degree in Marketing at CCD.

As a DSF Peer Mentor at CCD, Kwizi collaborates with DSF Campus Advisors to support her fellow scholars, aiding in meeting requirements and promoting DSF events. Despite the balancing act of full-time school and work, Kwizi's perseverance, bolstered by DSF's support, propels her toward her goal of graduating from CCD. Grateful for DSF's financial assistance and advisement, Kwizi emphasizes the importance of staying connected with the organization's support networks and leveraging opportunities for networking and personal growth. She aspires to blend her passion for creativity with professional endeavors, embracing entrepreneurship and continuous learning in her future pursuits.
